“The Devil Wore Prada” is the story of a young woman played by Anne Hathaway who turns down admission to Stanford Law School to move to New York to be a journalist. It’s odd in movies how people who turn down law school have always been accepted to Stanford, Harvard, or Yale. Doesn’t anyone ever turn down admission to WatsamattaU Law School?
She has wrangled a position as second assistant to the powerful character played by Meryl Streep at “The” fashion magazine. Her job is to get coffee, run errands, etc. She is totally out of place here with her cute, mid-western look, sweaters and girl next door clothes.

In the story she adjusts and finds herself becoming one of the fashion industry drone clones. Her friends are disappointed in her, and most importantly she is disappointed in herself. The movie revolves with her quitting her job, giving away all of the posh clothes she has been given, and returning to her true nature.
