“A Good Year” (2006) is a good movie. It stars Russell Crowe as Max Skinner and is based on a novel written by pro-Provence writer Peter Mayle. Crowe plays a financial wizard from London who inherits his Uncle Henry’s (Albert Finney) vineyard and country home in Provence. . . . .

Skinner originally goes to Provence intent on selling the estate and returning to his never take a day off job in London. He is soon charmed by his memories of his Uncle Henry, the lifestyle in Provence, his until then unknown cousin, and the beautiful Fanny Chanal. Naturally he eventually elects to stay in Provence and enjoy the good life instead of returning to his nonlife in England.
